The Pillars of Faith

Humility & Obedience

Ding dong the bells, will ring

Remind us it’s time, to sing

          It is, Sunday school

          Don’t you, be uncool

Come celebrate, our King

Buddy & Max knew there would be two parts, to the lesson

They learned this before it was the same, every session

The man always had two, stories to tell

In storytelling the, man did excel

Telling kids Bible stories was, his profession

Philippians 2:3-4

Jesus the son of God was very, humble

He help people who happen to, stumble

He lifted them, to their feet

Filled them with His, love complete

No one was left who could, grumble

Do nothing out of selfish, ambition

Helping others should be your, mission

Regard others as better, than yourself

Put the needs of others, over thyself

A humble spirit does not fear, submission

Look not to your own interests, and gain

Be concerned for your neighbors, in pain

          Understand the needs, of others

We are all sisters, and brothers

We all come from the same, family name

James 4:6

God gives grace to the humble He, opposes the proud

Best to follow the Lord’ don’t, follow the crowd

          In your heart, be humble

Then if you start, to stumble

Come to the Lord in prayer, with head bowed

Luke 14:11

All those who exalt themselves, will be humbled

Those who humble themselves, will be exalted

Pride brings disgrace to, God’s kingdom

But with humility comes, great wisdom

Submit to the Lord’s teaching, as St. Paul did

Romans 12:3

Paul said think not more highly of yourself, than you ought

Rather think of yourself with sober judgment, is what he taught

In the books of the, New Testament

          We read the Apostle’s, statement

Knowing the truth we will never, be distraught

While turning the page in the, picture book

Buddy & Max were ready to, have a look

At the man’s next, Bible Story

          About God, and his glory

All eyes in the class were on the, picture book

Ephesians 6:1-3

Obey your parents in the Lord, for, this is right

Honor your father and mother, and never fight

          Obey your parents, in everything

          With love honor, and caring

For this is very pleasing in, the Lord’s sight

Children show their love for God by, obeying

Seek His wisdom by constantly, praying

That he will show you, his wisdom

And tell you how to, please Him

Read the Bible to see what the Lord, is saying

Buddy & Max learned about Humility, and obedience

They saw the benefit of this teaching, is expedient

With Christ  in your, heart within

He will lead you, away from sin

These are good character-building, ingredients

We can say we have, fellowship with Him

But if we are still, walking in sin

God does not look the, other way

          We will be accountable, someday

Unless we have, trusted in Him

Show your love for God, by obeying

Everything the Bible, is saying

The life of Jesus was, an example

God’s view of life, a perfect sample

And continually to Him, keep praying

John 14:23

Jesus said he who loves me will obey, my teaching

Spread the gospel worldwide and, far-reaching

Preach the word of God, to all nations

So all can join in the, big celebration

A relationship with Jesus we should, be seeking

Buddy & Max fell asleep on the way home, in the car

When they woke they were not sure, where they are

The man had carried them, both in

He laid them down next, to him

And the three slept together, under the stars
